Julian: Engineering at Infinitus

This is part of a series of blog posts featuring some of the amazing talent we have working on the technology behind Infinitus.

This week, we’re excited to be featuring Julian Frumar. Julian has a background as an entrepreneur (he’s been through Y Combinator twice as a founder) and thrives in early-stage companies that are figuring things out. He has also previously worked at Google and YouTube where he led the redesign of the YouTube player, watch page, and TV products. He was one of our first hires, and has helped shape and develop our internal tools, particularly focused on the frontend and user interface slice of our stack.


Why did you choose to join Infinitus?
Initially, I was excited by the founding team and the early stage of the company – I was looking for an engineering culture, led by a team with a strong pedigree. As I learned more about the product we’re building, and the opportunities ahead, I was all in.

What are you working on right now?
I’m working on improving the user interface of our internal data labeling and QA tools. As we scale up, we’re constantly looking for ways to reduce the time to onboard our operations team members. Right now I’m focused on making it easier for our team to get accurate results back to our AI teams (data labeling)  and customers (QA) as quickly as possible.

What is the favorite part about working for Infinitus?
I love the realtime aspect of our product – there’s nothing more real time that an interactive phone call with another human. I joke that if we’re too slow to respond, it’s like a long-distance satellite call from the 80s with long gaps between responses – it just makes things awkward.

I also love how clear it is to see the huge gains in efficiency our tools can provide. I feel empathy for the staff who have to make routine phone calls which distract them from more engaging and impactful work, such as caring for patients. I am excited that we can help relieve them of this, and complete it in the background for them.

What are 3 words to describe Infinitus?
Fast, modern, intelligent

What advice do you have for prospective Infinitus candidates?
If you’re looking for a small engineering team that punches above its weight, we’d love to meet you! We’re collaborative, and also autonomous. It’s been really refreshing seeing teammates grab a problem and run with it using their own creativity. We share discussions when warranted, but manage to avoid bureaucracy and headwinds, so we get a lot done.


What’s something you are passionate about outside of work?
I love electronic music production. I have a small project studio at home, and I love noodling around with Logic Pro, Ableton Live, synths and drum machines. Always up for a jam with like minded people! I also love riding my e-bike through all the great parks and trails in San Francisco.
